What is soil?

  • Soil is a small piece of solid, composed of water and air, Or,
  • Soil is the soft and granular covering of the earth's surface. Soil is formed by mixing minerals and organic compounds formed from rock powder. Or,
  • The soft layer on the surface of the earth where plants take root and absorb sap and grow is called soil. Or,
  • Soil is a natural substance consisting of a combination of minerals, organisms, and organic matter suitable for growing plants.

Soil is mainly composed of 4 main components.
E.g.
1  Minerals - 45%;
2  Organic matter - 5%;
3  Wind - 25%;
4  Water - 25%;

Soil Types: There are mainly 3 types of soil: -

1. Clay soil
2. Sandy soil
3. Loamy soil

Soil features bottom:

Clay soil:

A) Ethel soil has more silt and mud than sand.
B) The clay soil is very soft, the grains are very small and fine.
C) And the soil can hold more water.
D) It cannot circulate well in this soil.
E) This soil is not very useful for all crops, but paddy can be cultivated.

Sandy soil:

A) The sandy soil has more sand.
B) The water holding capacity of this soil is less.
C) Crops do not grow well in sandy soil but watermelon, cucumber, melon, peanut, sweet potato, etc. grow well.

Loam soil:

A) Loam soil contains an equal amount of sand, silt, and mud.
B) The water holding capacity of this soil is medium.
C) Loamy soil is suitable for cultivation. Paddy, jute, wheat, onion, chili, maize, potato, vegetables, etc. grow well in this soil.
